September 26, 2018 - The next step in the modernization of our school is here and we would like to provide our students, parents, guardians and community members a brief update. Construction activity will pick up in the coming weeks as the first phase of the modernization is completed.
The first phase includes the moving of modular classrooms currently on the site. The three modulars that were on the south west corner of the school located closest to our running track have been demolished to make room for the re-location of the 9 modular classrooms currently on the north east side of the building closest to the intersection of King Street and Woodhaven Drive. Thanks again to all staff and students for their patience as existing space in the school has been adjusted to accommodate students in the meantime. Once phase one is complete, phase two which consists of the construction of the new areas of the school, can begin.
The construction contractor has aligned with Parkland School Division to make student safety the number one priority. We ask that students please observe all construction signage and exercise all caution as the heavy duty machinery activity increases to complete the modular classroom moves.
In the end, bright, modern and flexible learning spaces will ultimately help us achieve our ultimate goal of Student Success & Well-being for all students. We will also have a lot more of that space with the school’s core capacity increasing from 450 to 885 students.
